History of the Future - Cars

Running Low

Storyland

Phill Jupitus would like to remind you what the future was all about.  He’d like to sit you down in an atomic-powered armchair and press a button that rolls the ceiling back, stunning you with an open blue skyscape of flying cars, cloud cities and spaceships, most of which will sport tailfins.

The History of the Future - Cars, is a half hour factual entertainment programme being produced for BBC 4. It will look at how we thought the future was going to turn out, and why it didn't. A nostalgic look at the future, which ponders, and has a giggle at, what we thought we’d be driving.

Civilisation dried up shortly after the oil did. But now, a Dublin refugee is about to find help in the last place imaginable...a midlands petrol station.

'Running Low' is a series which has been commissioned under the Storyland title by RTÉ. It will be an online drama competition where the viewers are in control. Our first episode will be available to watch on the RTÉ website from the 13th of March which is also when voting lines will open. Make a note in your diary to check out this fantastic new initiative by RTÉ and of course our brilliant series, Running Low, written by Diarmuid O'Brien.
