The Story so far

Running Low is our cunning new web drama that we’re delighted to be getting the opportunity to make through RTÉ’s highly experimental Storyland competition.

Tom and Bala Weldon are two unmotivated cousins boarded up in the family petrol station. Their plan is to lay low and sit out Europe’s tumultuous return to the Dark Ages. You see all the oil has run out and civilisation itself has collapsed with a hoarse whimper in its absence.

The Cousins Weldon have managed to carve a self-sustainable little rut for themselves into this hard new world but it’s all about to be ruined by the high-speed arrival of Polly Clerkin – a once promising civil engineer, now a political refugee – on the run from a totalitarian Dublin ruled under a Green fist.

Running Low is story about survival, finding one’s place in the world and petrol. It’s Mad Max meets Garage. Mad Maxol, if you will...

However, it doesn’t matter if you watch Running Low or even if you like it. All that matters is if you vote for it. You see, Running Low will only get to finish its story if its fans go to the Storyland website and place their vote. While we have little tolerance for vulgar trappings of reality TV or indeed democracy in any form, we would dearly love to tell this story in its entirety and see our characters safely to their new home. Since each episode of Running Low ends on a cliff-hanger, if the show gets voted off, you can presume that the characters perished. And it will be all your fault.
